Dream Big for the New Year

Christmas is just around the corner and before you know it we'll be ringing in the New Year.  I just read a post the other day that said if we haven't already been thinking about 2016 we're already behind.  It was on a motivational instagram page, and I thought, "oh my gosh, you're right."  Part of constantly feeling "behind" is due to a lack of planning.  I fall into this pattern.  Ok, I AM this pattern.  So in order to get a head start, it's a great idea to think about our dreams and goals for the next year, BEFORE the next year is here.

Dream Big for the New Year by BeckyCharms

Aside from the usual goals of getting fit, eating healthy, being successful, we need to think about HOW we're going to accomplish those goals.  Thinking those things and saying them out loud are only part of the process of change.  Next, we need to figure out the ways in which we will do them.

This applies to everyone, whether you are a business owner, homemaker, student, professional, executive, blue collar, white collar, international, adventurer, wanderer, nomad, musician, the list of possibilities goes on and on because we all need to evaluate our mission and journey.

Let me know what your goals are for the upcoming year and let's figure out how to hold each other accountable so that we will have a prosperous and successful new year!

Please share this poster.  Good cheer brings happiness to all.

Have a beautiful day!

What to Tell Your Kids Why The Elves Didn't Move

I was just reading about what happens when the Elf of the Shelf doesn't move overnight.  Literally, like a few days ago I was reading that article.

What to Tell Your Kids Why The Elves Didn't Move by BeckyCharms

Thoughts that went through my head:

  • "Ha! That would never happen."

  • "Ha! That won't happen to me."

  • "Ha! Not gonna happen."

It happened.  To me.  It happened to me last night.

Our elves, count them, two, elves, didn't move!!

Remember that word that Ralphie said which merited a bar of barf-worthy soap in the mouth?  Remember?
(Reference to A Christmas Story")

That's what went through my head when the quick-paced pitter patter of tiny kid feet came running down the hall to see where Icicle and HollyHeart had moved to this morning.

Ughhhhhhhh.  Major heart sink and palpitations ensued.
Oh my gosh, I'm going to have a heart attack and nobody will know if I can just keep this immense panic and anxiety from showing all over my face. Keep your sweat inside, man!

They probably just fell asleep.  Mostly true.

Maybe they also have strep throat. Could be true.

They need their rest. Definitely probably true.

It worked. Praise God, because I'm probably going to hell for this.

If it doesn't work for you, you should be more convincing.  I mean, really.  You disgust me.  And you say you don't play make-believe.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!

A Saturday spent at home: an insightful short story.

A Saturday spent at home...

A Saturday spent at home, finishing up a three-week long assignment in a matter of hours, while the red candle burns, melting unevenly, with its wavering flame mocking me of my insecurities and reminding me of my unstable anxieties.

I'm alone.  I'm alone at this desk.  I'm alone in this room.  This room, where I spend copious amounts of time with sighs and daydreams, sunken guts and wrenching heartbreak.

It wasn't supposed to be like this, but that's what they all say.  Has life really come down to a library stack of clich├ęs?  Oh, the irony.  Life is ironic beyond measure, and everyday adds material to my solo act.

Hatred is an instigator, and I pray to avoid such
