Look who was hiding in the yard this morning!  We woke up excited to look for Easter Eggs in the yard and received a double bonus.  Dummberry sure has a way to cheer up any day, especially this Spring Easter day.  Thank you, dummberry. .. .. . . .  He did give away his hiding places by leaving a snail trail behind.

Easter Sunday 2013 and Jesus Is Risen Indeed!

The point of Easter: Jesus rises from the dead after dying on the cross, battling Satan in Hell, winning {because he ALWAYS triumphs.. ALWAYS}, and we are forgiven.

Here are some catchy song lyrics to the tune of "Michael Finnegan" that I just made up.. really, just now.  {-smile-}  I hope you enjoy!

"Satan Sin-Again" by Becky Gomez 3-31-2013
{To the tune of "Michael Finnegan/Finnigan" example of video here

-->
There was an old man named “Satan Sin-again”

He said go and kick his shin-again

He fell from Heaven into the pit again

Boo Hoo Satan Sin-again

I win again..

Satan’s verse, worse than the curse..

{to repeat over and over and over again until you just can't stand it!}

Dummberry as a Ladybug Just in Time for Springtime, 2013, dummberry, beckycharms, San Diego, art, arte, design, graphic design, illustration, cartoon, Spring, sketch, drawing, colors, snail, ladybug

TinyBaker and I were out in the backyard looking around right after Mr. Google mowed the lawn the other day, and to our surprise, we saw two ladybugs.. {or, ladybird beetles}

But what we didn't know was the dummberry must have followed us too!  Because the very next day we saw him snailing about, sporting his newest disguise.  Dummberry as a ladybug!  He looks fabulous in red and spots, don't you agree?

Dummberry in Disguise is at it again, with some fresh looks for Spring. .. .. . . . .. . .. .. . . .

Do you know anyone who loves ladybugs?  Why not send them this picture and brighten their new springtime day?!  They'll thank you for it.

The Paradigm of Hiding One's Self: Introspection within Extrospection

Do you assume I'm trying to hide if I don't show my face all the time?  Is my face for you?  Was it created for your enjoyment?  An expression on our faces shows others a teeny tiny bit of what and how we might be feeling on the inside.  If our faces were created for us, then wouldn't we be able to see them all the time?  Instead our eyes are positioned inside our sockets on our face for others to see.  And for those individuals that are physically blind?  They neither get to see their own face, nor anyone else's.  But others get to see their face.  Is that fair?  We all know that life's not fair, however, to imagine ourselves hiding our faces because we don't want others to see, is that selfish?  It is our self, our own face, yet selfish to hide a part of our self for the sake of protecting our self from some one else.  We hide ourselves in many ways.  We hide emotionally, we hide behind nervous laughter, we hide in our houses, we hide behind masks.  It is my face yet I cannot see it, so I will hide it so you can't either; a self-centered approach to one's self.  Is it ours to hide?  It is on my body yet only you can see it yet I hide it.  Is it okay for you to take it?  Is it okay for you to force me to give it to you?  You trying to force me to show you my face when neither I can see it yet only you can but I am hiding it from you, am I punishing you?  Am I holding my face as collateral because of a grudge?  Would it be in my own interest to keep my face from you because I am angry at you and don't feel like you deserve to see it?  If I am to love all and others as myself, yet I hide my own face, should I hide your face too?  Should I shield your face from me as I approach you with my own hidden face so that I may treat you as I treat myself?  And if I am ashamed of my face, ashamed of my self, should I be ashamed of you as well if I am to treat you as I treat myself?  Would this paradigm of self love vs. self hate continue so long as I hide my face?  Then if we all hide our faces, would I feel a lack of love from you, even though I would know that you are treating me as you treat yourself, by hiding your face and hiding mine?  If I hide my face and hide within my home, I would expect you to do the same for that is how I treat myself and that is how I would treat you.  Yet should you decide to show your face, is that a direct aim at me because I still hide my face and expect you to hide yours, yet you've decided to show yours?  Will you force me to show mine?  Will I take it personal that you changed your mind and I haven't?  I still hide my face, for my own self's sake, yet I am to love you as much as I love myself.  Do I love myself?  Why am I hiding my face?  Why am I hiding my face if I can't even see it?  Why do you let me hide yours just because I hide mine?  Is it mutual respect?  Is it fear?  Are you hiding from something?  Are you hiding from me?  Are you hiding because of me?  Am I hiding from you?

For the Audio {me reading it to you}:

What Defines Artisinal {Artisanal} and Why It's Missing from the Beekman 1802 Description

2013, beckycharms, California, fruition, life, lifestyle, San Diego, Beekman 1802, Fabulous Beekman Boys, New York, marketing, advertising, spelling, grammar,

This is sort of an Update to The Beekman 1802 Mercantile {UN{Intentional Misleading Information on BeckyCharms.com.

So, you see that?  Look really close and you just might catch it.  You can't miss it with the yellow arrows pointing to it!  Yes, the Beeks have added.. ADDED the word "artisinal" to their description.  In case you're missing something here, and feeling like a lost puppy dog in the middle of the streets of Shanghai, a few months ago I posted an entire article explaining an issue.. issues I had with the Fabulous Beekman Boys claiming that "ALL" their "Beekman 1802 goods" are hand-crafted near Sharon Springs, NY, when I have 2 items conflicting with their claims.

Here is a before screenshot:

2013, beckycharms, California, fruition, life, lifestyle, San Diego, Beekman 1802, Fabulous Beekman Boys, New York, marketing, advertising, spelling, grammar,

Okay, okay.. That's a little step in the right direction.  I give credit where credit's due.

But, wait!  They've.. or whomever manages/edits the Beekman 1802 website/mercantile inserted "artisinal".  I'm not sure that's a word.  I never like to assume, but for the sake of this post, I'm going to.. I will {make that ass out of 'u' and 'me'} and go out on a limb and say that they meant "artisanal".  That might be a bit artisanal, poking at the letters with my stick.

2013, beckycharms, California, fruition, life, lifestyle, San Diego, Beekman 1802, Fabulous Beekman Boys, New York, marketing, advertising, spelling, grammar,
I tend to say "I'm just saying" right about now.  Now, to reference the original post, I'm still not on any high horse.  If you're trying to be literal, that won't work here.  I'm really just sitting hunched over my IKEA glass top desk typing away on an old white Mac Book, Google searching at least once per paragraph, squinting my dry and tired eyes looking for my own typos and mistakes.

Let's take a deeper look, though.. just real quick.

2013, beckycharms, California, fruition, life, lifestyle, San Diego, Beekman 1802, Fabulous Beekman Boys, New York, marketing, advertising, spelling, grammar,

2013, beckycharms, California, fruition, life, lifestyle, San Diego, Beekman 1802, Fabulous Beekman Boys, New York, marketing, advertising, spelling, grammar,

This is the next question.  What do the Beekman Boys consider "artisinal" {artisanal}?  Here's what happens when you search "artisinal" on their online Mercantile:

2013, beckycharms, California, fruition, life, lifestyle, San Diego, Beekman 1802, Fabulous Beekman Boys, New York, marketing, advertising, spelling, grammar,

Uh Oh!  Nothing matches!  Are we surprised?  I want to be, but.. Let's recap.  Beekman 1802, "All" goods made near Sharon Springs NY, canvas tote made in China, Polka Spot shirt made in Nicaragua, "All" artisinal goods, "Sorry, we could not find any matches for artisinal".  Let's stop there for a moment.

Even though I'm playing on grammar and semantics here, let's search for "artisanal".

2013, beckycharms, California, fruition, life, lifestyle, San Diego, Beekman 1802, Fabulous Beekman Boys, New York, marketing, advertising, spelling, grammar,

Super!  "Artisanal" DOES produce some search results.  Only five.  According to "The Fabulous Beekman Boys", all of their "artisinal" goods are made somewhere in the vicinity of somewhere near Sharon Springs, NY.  But, none of their items are "artisinal".  And if all of their "artisanal" goods are produced in Sharon Springs, NY, that means that only 5 different products fit the bill.

At least I was able to figure it out myself.  Did you keep up?

As a consumer and Rookie Business Owner, I realize the importance of and appreciate honest, transparent business practices.  It is not an oxymoron.  Sneaky marketing?  No thanks.  Creative wording and writing takes talent.  Lies are blatant falsities, and consumers see right through them.

Solution time:
  • An apology is still in order, for false advertising and trickery, and *ahem* personal attacks.  {What about the other people that bought these same products under the misconceived notion that they were supporting U.S. made?}
  • Typo correction from "artisinal" to "artisanal".
  • Clarification on which items are included in "artisanal".  The word should be included in their item description, and possibly an entire category for quick reference.
Oh, yeah.. I'm just saying.  Be informed, and do research.

If you want a brief history and prequel to this post, please read for your enjoyment {and frustration if you care anything at all about honesty and integrity} The Beekman 1802 Mercantile {UN{Intentional Misleading Information on BeckyCharms.com.

To visit, view, and shop Beekman products, visit The Beekman 1802 Mercantile website.. { +Beekman 1802 Boys }

I can see it's going to take a bit longer to "patch things up with the Beekman Boys" for my mom's sake.  We're still saving money to visit Sharon Springs, NY..

I wanted to bake and decorate cookies.  We baked them.  Then ate them.  They didn't last long enough to decorate.  That's my family.  *sigh*.  There's TinyBaker loving cutting out cookies.  This is a great way to connect with your kids in the kitchen.  She and I have the BEST time.  I even threw a little flour at her.  It made her laugh, then she did it back.  {-smile-}

Reminder to myself:  I'll have to bake in the middle of the night if I ever want a chance at decorating.   Hopefully I'll be able to get some done by Easter!  The Bunnies and Carrot cookies are a perfect pair!

Nevertheless, this cookie recipe was pretty delicious and easy to make.  I found it over here at The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle website. {There are two recipes: one measured in cups, and the other by weight.  I tried the one in grams.}

Try it!  No chilling necessary!  {I also added less almond extract..and the almond flavor was still prevalent}

Daddy, Please Don't Leave Me: Poem

Daddy Please Don't Leave Me: Poem, beckycharms, 2013, faith, fruition, beckycharms, San Diego, love, family, life, lifestyle, Father's Day, Dad, daddy, poem, poetry, writing

This is the perfect poem and the perfect words for a loving father-daughter relationship.  Whatever your circumstances are, life is never as long as we think it will be.  I love my dad, and hopefully this will inspire you to share your words of love with your favorite father.  We never do have enough time with our parents, and it seems the days are shortened every morning that we wake up.  Make great use of your time together; laugh with loved ones, smile, share memories, take photos, reminisce about the olden days.  Just love.  My parents are everything to my daughter that I never experienced in grandparents.  I love you both.. mom you're my favorite, and dad, you are my favorite.. dad!!  I love you.  Always.  Forever.

Here is the Text version of this poem::

-->
Daddy, Please Don’t Leave Me

I’ve waited years to know you
Where’s “JON”, you know, at work.
On Christmas Eve and New Year’s
My mom would sadly smirk

My dad gets home at midnight
I’d tell my friends at school
You carried me to bed
After working with your tools

We re-met in High School
Driving me to school and games
You were my biggest cheer team
Right then I knew your name

In college we connected
With heart to hearts at night
You asked me how my days were
I shared my hopes and fright

You walked me down the aisle
Who gives this girl away?
I held your arm so tightly
When you kissed my cheek that day

One night I had a baby
You and mom drove down to see
You sat there in the hospital
I remember you smiled** at me

I’m sorry for refusing
To give you giant hugs
I’d trade those days of drama
For coffee shops and mugs

So here we are together
Our special family tree
We’ll fight this thing together
Please daddy, don’t leave me.

**can be subbed with "smiling"

I love you dad, the most.. you know, for my dad!
Your one and only daughter, Becky.

I hope I'm every bit of joy to you that you are to me.  I can't thank you enough for the life that you spent every working moment trying to give me.  I'm glad we have our time together.

Disney Oz The Great and Powerful : Movie Review

Disney Oz The Great and Powerful : Movie Review by BeckyCharms 2013, movies, review, san diego, beckycharms, fruition, cinema, theater, film, acting, celebrities, actors, actresses, wicked witch

I was stooooooooked to open my email and see that I had another opportunity to view a prescreening of a BIG movie!  Any movie, really.  I love it.  I love seeing movies, and after my daughter was born I felt like I'd never make it back to the theater, but baby I'm back, and it definitely feels better than ever!

I just realized, like just now, this moment, that what differs from regular screenings and prescreenings is that the audience isn't talking.  Everyone is silent!  It's the most ideal way to see a movie.  It was very agitating to go to my first movie after such a long break only to have all of my movie neighbors TALKING and shining their phone lights in my face from all the twexting and tweetmails.  Really.  Really.  No, really.  Do you know what I'm talking about?

So, a HUGE thanks to +World Market San Diego and AMC Theaters for hosting this awesome event and sharing tickets with Explorer Members!!  An extra added unexpected BONUS: we each received a $10 gift card for AMC upon entering!!

I took my mom with me to see Disney's Oz The Great and Powerful.  We shared a special night together; girl time.  I'm not super mushy about "girl time", but my mom has been my best friend since before I was born, and I treasure every moment with her.

There was also a very sweet couple {of young folks} who were next to us in line and then next to us in the theater.  While they went to buy popcorn and snacks and we saved their seats, they brought us back a small box with which they poured some of their popcorn into it to share with us.  They shared their popcorn with us.  So sweet!  So after the movie was over, I was so happy and fortunate that I was able to share with them an extra gift certificate that I had received from Dining Out San Diego {visit Dining Out San Diego} for $25 to Bully's East Restaurant in Mission Valley!  Thanks for the kindness.  So glad I was able to reciprocate.  It feels great to be kind and share.  Go and enjoy!

OK, so as far as the movie review goes, I say "go".  Go see this movie.  It comes out tomorrow in a theater near you.

It's a cinematic splendor of visual excitement and adventure.  When the wizard reaches the Emerald City, you'll experience color intoxication.  Bursts of rainbow and waterfalls of thrilling free falls!

We stayed through the entire credits.. but the "Reserved" seating guests did NOT!  What?  The "Movie Buffs" as I overheard them call themselves get invited to the movie and receive preferential seating, yet don't find, can't find the respect to honor the actual movie-makers?  I say "Uncool".  But hey, that's just me.  I've only been watching movies for like, ever.  {-smile-}

I loved the burst into Technicolor {even more than in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland} and the porcelain doll in China Town.  Very cute and clever.  My mom says "the wicked witch was a very attractive girl".  You hear that, Mila Kunis?

Are there moments of predictability?  Sure.  Are there moments of surprise?  Yes!  Great job, cast and crew.  Will you be Oz-notized?

Check out this awesome video that fits the Oz theme by Chris Commisso::
